Operations
Sand King Underground mine is located 83 kms northwest of Kalgoorlie and 37 kms southeast of the Davyhurst Processing Plant. Underground mining commenced in August 2024, stoping commenced in March 2025 achieving payback on investment in September 2025.
The mining technique utilised is sub level open stoping with a modern mining fleet. Twin boom jumbo drills, remote capable production longhole drills and the use of remote and automated bogging assist in achieving a targeted production rate of over 800,000 ore tonnes and delivering 80,000 – 90,000 ounces per annum. The mine is over 150 metres deep, with two declines servicing an orebody strike of over 900 metres. The mine designs incorporate a safety by design approach to ensure safe interactions for modern equipment, with infrastructure and services required for safe practices.
Underground development, production activities and drilling are completed by tier one underground specialist contractors with Ora Banda Mining providing all management, technical and support services.
Ore is transported via an external haulage contractor to the Davyhurst Processing Plant.
Geology
The Sand King gold deposit comprises a series of stacked quartz tension veins developed within a competent basaltic host sequence. Mineralisation occurs in the biotite-sulphide-silica alteration halo of these veins, which strike 060 or 090 orientation (MGA). Gold is associated with fine disseminated pyrite.
Mineralisation is open down dip and along strike both to the north and south. Recent drilling success has not only increased the tenor and scale of the known mineralisation envelope but has materially extended mineralisation in both these directions. Aggressive drilling continues at Sand King, and the greater Siberia project.
